Little Anderson Lake.

On Sunday may 9th/2010 I took a trip up to the Little Anderson lake area to do some field work. The following is from my field log:
Observations:Just past the Little Anderson lake pull-off I drove over a small bridge (creek running under bridge)and was just coming into the slash area above the lake when I noticed a black bear on the right shoulder of the road,I immediately stopped my truck.I was approximately 110'from the bear. The bear looked towards me but seemed more interested in smelling out some food.I proceeded to grab my video camera and started to film.
I watched the bear for some time as it made it's way up the bank and eventually disappeared into the forest.
I drove a couple more minutes and decided to pull-over to do some wood knocking.I tried this for about 20-mins with no response."Wood knocking" is thought to be a form of communication between Sasquatch.
I then decided to investigate the area for tracks, skat or anything else out of the ordinary.I found what looked to be numerous remains of grouse who were probably killed by hunters. After searching the immediate area I drove down a short road which is located directly above Little Anderson lake and dead ends as the road moves to the right.I walked to the end of this road and looked over a bank which has a creek cutting through and observed a waterfall to my right. At this point I decided to grab my binoculars and pan the area. I fixed my binoculars along the tree line at the edge of the slash going back and forth looking for any movement but saw nothing(I repeated this several times throughout my trip).
I then turned my attention to the ground where I noticed what looked to me like a foot print with four 4-toes. The ground in this area was not overly soft so I thought it made sense that if something heavy was walking it would probably push off with its toes as it shifted to the other foot leaving a print.I took several pictures and checked the area with a fine tooth comb but was unable to find any other tracks.
As I made my way back to the truck I then heard a loud thump (sounding like something heavy hitting a hollowed out stump or an area where the ground in the forest has hollow voids.)I stopped and turned around in the direction I believed the sound was coming from (I believe the sounds origin was coming from down the bank on the other side of the creek just inside the forest, approx 300' or so feet from where I was standing)I again heard this thump , It repeated about 5 more times with about a 30-second delay in between,it then stopped.
At this point it was starting to get late so I ended my trip and headed home.

Weather details: Mainly sunny with a few clouds, slight breeze and temperature was +13
Type of area: Above Little Anderson Lake ,recently logged (last couple of years)slash, with mature forest. On mount Washington,Strathcona Park.
Reason for research in this area: Looking for evidence of Sasquatch.I have picked this area based on a triaglization of chosen sighting reports, vocalizations reports, rock throwing reports and footprint reports. This area turns out to be in the middle of the triangle.

Other notes:
#1: Footprint found and photographed was of a left foot.
#2: 1/2 klm away was where I had black bear encounter.
#3: 1klm away I found deer tracks and canine tracks.

Understanding Sasquatch.

I have had more Sasquatch reports filtering in from the Strathcona park area, these reports have been coming in to me second hand.
I am trying to follow up with the eye witnesses and will post the reports as the eye witnesses come to me.
The year and time I have been hearing is the same as the other reports in this area, between may-sept/2006.
I have been doing very little field research as I am waiting for the weather to improve some.
One thing I have been researching lately is wild animal behavior and there interactions with humans.
The animal I have been looking at lately is the cougar because it is rarely seen by humans.
Some common and interesting facts about the cougar are its hunting ground is generally the same through out its life and can range from 100 square miles to 200 square miles, its average life span in the wild is aprox 12-years.
It preys on a variety of animals like the deer, elk, rabbit and even small moose.
It is a master of camouflage and will generally attack its prey with 2 or 3 big leaps hitting the prey with a full impact bearing the prey to the ground where it will suffocate it with a prolonged bite across the throat.
Many avid outdoors men who have spent many years in the wild have never even seen a cougar in the wild due to the cougar not wanting a human encounter.
Most reported cougar sightings come from people who have seen them crossing the road well driving well most attacks are because the cougar is starving.
Some experts in the cougar field say you are more likely to be killed by your neighbors dog or a black widow bite then a cougar .

In closing I would like to say that in the beginning of my search for the Sasquatch I thought it would be as easy as getting a camera, plaster and some reports lol.
What I have found out is the deeper I get into this search the more complex it really is.
There is so much to do and learn, from animal tracking, understanding animal behavior, skat examinations, hair sampling, filing reports and thats just the tip of iceberg.
It is my belief in order to understand the Sasquatch you must first understand its habitat and everything in it.

My Thoughts On Sasquatch

Last Monday I was in a store which had a rack of books dedicated to Sasquatch as well as other local interests. After looking through a couple of the Sasquatch books I made my way to the cashier.Well waiting in line I noticed a couple of gentlemen over at the books, they then started discussing Sasquatch. One was a firm believer while the other was smirking and chuckling about the topic. It was at this point I cut into the conversation and told them that I was a believer and that I had had my own sighting years earlier. The one gentlemen who was a non-believer laughed and asked me if I was drunk when I saw the creature. This is a very common reaction to people who have not had there own experience or have chosen not to believe, this is also why a high percentage of people who have had sightings don't talk or report them.It is my belief that people usually laugh to these types of conversations for 2-reasons.#1 they think that the witness is joking about his/her experience.#2 there mis-informed (un-educated in this topic). It is also my belief if a person actually took the time to become educated in this topic they would at a very minimum leave it with a better understanding and have more respect for those who do believe. To those of you who come to my site and don't believe ,take some time ,go through my site and the links, educate yourself .Hopefully when you are done you will have a bit more respect for the Sasquatch and the people who believe.Oh ya one more thing,If you don't believe then why are you on my site???Something peak your interest???To those who have had an experience and have yet to report it please fill out my report form further down the page and if you would like to remain anonymous your name will not be published.

Kwai Lake (Strathcona Park)

I received a report, Jan 6th 2010, from a man who may have had an experience with a Sasquatch near Kwai Lake in Strathcona park, during the summer of 2006.The following account is that of the witness.
"One night in the late summer of 2006, 2 of my friends and I had this crazy idea to go hiking. We went and bought some flashlights and started our hike from Mount Washington parking lot at 10pm. We were having a few drinks and not worrying about anything, the moon was bright enough to see when we were hiking the rocky sections but for the wooded areas we needed flashlights. We were just passing an open area and heading back into a wooded area with flashlights on,one of my friends stopped and said "hey guys listen ....nice,quiet." (Too quiet but I didn't realize) My friend said "the sound of silence." Then all of a sudden it was like a hundred birds squawking right behind us,so loud you could feel it pounding your chest. I screamed "SASQUATCH" :like a reflex without even thinking about it we started running and quickly ran out of energy. We huddled behind a large stump that was covering our backs. We then took off our back packs and took out our hunting knives,we turned off our flashlights and prepared for battle. It sounded like the sound was moving around us but not getting any closer so after a few minutes of being totally freaked out we quietly put our back packs on and got out of there. As we walked the sound faded away from behind us and we started to feel more safe.We got such an energy rush knowing we witnessed something amazing.

Follow up:
I asked the witness to describe the sound he heard in greater depth,the following was his explanation;
"The only way to describe it is that it was like a gogoll, gogoll, gogoll, gogoll, gogoll, gogol it was continuous,no breaks between,we were actually thinking there was more then one like one after another going back and forth and it may have been smashing branches and stomping to get that powerful bass sound.I don't think it was following us.I think it just wanted us out of it's neck of the woods".
I also asked the witness if he or his friends ever had a visual of what might have made the noises and the witness said "We had no visual and I don't regret it,I don't think I could of handled it at the time.Whatever it was,it was big".

Notes:
Witness thinks it was in aug 2006 ,he could not confirm exact date of incident.
The experience happened in a wooded area about 2klm before Kwai Lake .
The witness had not heard of any previous incidents in this area.
The moon was bright,no clouds in area.
Between May and Aug of 2006 there were several reports all over Strathcona park which included possible Sasquatch sightings, rock throwing reports and vocalizations.
Wildlife biologist years earlier had lifted plaster moulds of Sasquatch tracks not far from this report at Lake Helen Mackenzie.

Sasquatch And The Pacific Northwest

When looking at the forests of the Pacific Northwest it's easy to see how one could get lost.Put Sasquatch into play in these forests and you can begin to appreciate how a species like this can be somewhat elusive. In British Columbia alone the forests take up approximately sixty percent of the land, much of it not explored and to rugged to enter. There have been numerous people who have disappeared over the years not to mention the amount of aircraft which has went missing with not even a trace of debris found. There are approximately 100 un-contacted tribes in the world today which have not been influenced by the outside world for hundreds of years,WOW pretty amazing in our technological advanced world of today that we could still have that many primitive tribes. One of these tribes had photo's taken of them via from a helicopter in May of 2008 on the border of Brazil and Peru,in the photo's (http://blogs.nationalgeographic.com/blogs/news/chiefeditor/2009/05/five-uncontacted-tribes-nearing-extinction.html) you can see some of the tribe pointing there bows toward the helicopter in what I am assuming would be utter fear of this loud nuisance hovering above there heads.Getting back to the Pacific Northwest. One point that the non-believers of Sasquatch like to point out is that if there was a 600lb to 800lb Sasquatch wondering around our forests that they would not be able to sustain life during our winters because there's simply not enough food to live on?
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJjUt2sXo5o&feature=related.My) answer to that would be that an average adult male moose weighs in at 850lbs to 1180lbs well the females average weight is between 600lb to 800lbs there diet in the winter consists of 40 to 50lbs per day of twigs and assorted shrubs(http://www.mooseworld.com/)....Who's to say an animal like Sasquatch doesn't eat the same winter diet???There are other animals in the Pacific Northwest that are note worthy of a similar weight class to Sasquatch as well like the elk with the adult male averaging its weight in at 698lbs(http://www.bcadventure.com/adventure/wilderness/animals/elk.htm) . As far as the non-believers go they can throw that winter theory of there's out the window. In conclusion to this post I would just like to say that Science is evolving and changing it's theories on a regular basis and there discovering new species every year who knows what tomorrow may bring but there's no doubt in my head that one day they will have the evidence they require to put Sasquatch on our list of native animals to the Pacific Northwest.

Roger Patterson/Bob Gimlin Film

My thoughts on the Patterson/Gimlin film.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOxuRIfFs0w .For starters I am very aggravated by this film simply because I have spent so much time listening, watching and reading peoples analysis for and against it.I have watched it hundreds of times at regular speed as well as slowed down frame by frame.I have listened to peoples claims that they know the person who was in the supposed suit.I have read and watched people try to dis-credit Roger Patterson (who may I say is not here and hasn't been for over 30-years to defend himself and his film) and Bob Gimlin ( who has always stuck by his word in saying it was NOT STAGED). If you are trying to form an opinion for or against the authenticity of this film I strongly recommend that you just watch the film and base your opinion on what it shows. It is my belief that what this film shows is a Female Sasquatch trying to move away from what she feels is a threat  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7DFQwKlfnk&NR=1  (Patterson/Gimlin).It is also my opinion that what those two gentlemen filmed that day is authentic.Come on people ??? just because you haven't personally seen it doesn't mean it's not real...I am 37-years old and in June of this year I saw my first cougar in person...Now prior to that did I believe cougars existed???...yes,because I knew people who had seen them,I have also seen pictures and video's of them...mmmm,kinda funny....I believe we have the same evidence for Sasquatch..... ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOrPTtg00MI&feature=related )

Forbidden Plateau

I remember 20-years ago going up to Forbidden Plateau when the lodge was opened during the summer to ride the chair lift and to get a bite to eat at the lodges restaurant.I also remember on the way to the restaurant that there was a plaque with the story of Forbidden Plateau and the Sasquatch.(If my memory serves me correct)This was before my sighting but I still remember being intrigued by the legend of Sasquatch even then.I am aware that there have been sightings all over Strathcona Park,I have collected numerous sighting reports from around the area and mapped them. Some of the sightings include Comox Lake,Mt Washington,Willemar Lake,Forbush Lake,Wolf Lake and a few others. What I am very interested in right now are reports from around Forbidden Plateau. If you have stumbled onto my sight and have an interesting story about Forbidden Plateau or anywhere in the Comox valley please fill out a report or email me with your story.I don't care if it's a story you have heard second hand ,I am very interested in what you have to say,it can be about tracks, rock throwing, hair samples, sounds, wood knocking ,sightings or anything else out of the ordinary.I appreciate your feedback and stories.I would also like to thank all of you for visiting my site and to the people who have taken the time out of there day to fill out my Sasquatch report form.Don't forget to do my survey before you leave,it's at the bottom of this page....Thanks Lee

Mount Shasta Sasquatch

I recently received an interesting report from a witness who claimed to have had an encounter back in 1974 coming down from Mount Shasta not far from Everett Memorial Highway. In this report he claimed to have seen a blond colored Sasquatch approximately 10 to 12' tall running a long the tree's and then as he slowed his vehicle down it eventually crossed the road in front of him disappearing into the tree's.The witness did get out of his vehicle to find some tracks which he then measured, the stride distance between tracks was eight feet. The same witness said he had more encounters in the hills east of Ashland Oregon. The picture above was taken at Mt Shasta.

Camping Comox Lake

It was about 8:45pm when my girlfriend and I finished setting up camp .It's sure an eerie feeling when you play back in your mind what you have seen, heard and read with regard to Sasquatch and add the fact that your in the forest at dark and not far from where you had your own personal sighting of this legendary beast....I found myself peering into the dark shadows of the forest wondering if there was a Sasquatch peering back at me,to compound things even more I thought OK any second now a Sasquatch is going to start throwing rocks at my girlfriend and I ....lovely,now were under attack and must go through the woods to reach the safety of our vehicle....lol,good thing that didn't happen. You know when you let your mind get carried away with the what ifs you really start to see how some may see things that are not really there..I believe its human nature to exaggerate or to even like i said earlier believe yourself into seeing things that are not really there. When I'm in the field I report exactly what I see, hear and smell,Hey it might sound boring to most but remember I'm not writing a fiction book here...Sorry,but it must be the truth. The place we camped was Comox Lake,it was in late Aug/2009.There were only two things to note during this trip and they were sounds which had come from just inside the woods and happened just as darkness set in,both times the noises sounded like something heavy moving through the bush, lasting no longer then 25 to 30 seconds, creepy and if you let your imagination run wild you could come to all sorts of conclusions but realistically it could of been anything.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERdW5IiWHGA&feature=related

The Sasquatch

I know that my search for Sasquatch was provoked by my sighting years ago.My belief in Sasquatch was not only due to my sighting but by the research I have done in the 16 years since.I have watched numerous documentaries and also read many books on this subject.I have watched the famous Patterson-Gimlin film, the Redwood footage, memorial day footage,Tofino footage,Freeman footage and many other video's.I've read so many sighting reports that it's made my head spin. The further I get into this subject the more curious I become.I can tell you that based on all the evidence that is out there that something very strange is happening. The non-believers out there will tell you that everyone that has had an encounter is imagining it,seeing shadows of something else, seeing bears, lying, people in gorilla suits and/or many other things.I for one believe that all the above things I have listed have happened but in the same breath based on the shear amount of sightings and evidence that there has to be some substance to all of this.I can tell you based on what I know I have chosen to believe and to also actively do something about it.I can also tell you what I don't believe about this subject.I don't believe that the Sasquatch can dematerialize, come from a different dimension or that it was dropped off by ufo's...lol.My belief is that Sasquatch is bipedal and is somewhere between man and ape in the evolutionary scale.I know that by choosing to believe that some will ridicule me and some will back me,either way it doesn't matter.I have made a strong statement by creating my site and to all the non-believers out there,it's your right to decide not to believe just as it's my right to believe. In the end it's all water under the bridge. The picture above was taken above Little Anderson.

Sasquatch Field Research Tips

I believe when searching for Sasquatch/Bigfoot you should research what the experts do. #1 Recordings of alleged Sasquatch sounds are a must for research, playing back the sounds could be key if there is a Sasquatch in the area. #2 Must have knowledge of tracking, being able to track will allow you to follow any Sasquatch that may have been in your area of search. #3 Due to Sasquatch being elusive in the forest we must except that it has exceptional abilities, such as better hearing, smell and better vision then a human,if that's the case then taking a stealth approach would be key ,camouflage gear would make you blend in to your surroundings while binoculars would give you a long range in which to view. Another approach would be to set up near a river with rapids, you would not be heard as easily. If you have spotted a Sasquatch and want a closer look, be sure to know in which direction the wind is coming from, you want to be down wind of the Sasquatch, being up wind would tip the Sasquatches keen sense of smell, there for alerting it to your presence. #4 Having a video camera, camera and plaster are some other tools you should have when searching for Sasquatch.Good luck with your search...Lee...Picture above was taken at Lower Quinsam Lake.

Sasquatch Links

I have spent many hours surfing the net looking for Sasquatch info, during my search I have come across many great sites including documentaries, stories, sounds and video of alleged Sasquatch encounters.I compare it to fishing,on one fishing trip you catch 5-trout but you have only 1 or 2 keepers while the rest you throw back,In other words there is a lot of crap out there as well and believe me i have found it... lol. If you have taken the time to visit my site to read the stories I have written and are a believer or maybe sitting on the fence, take the time and go through my list of links, remember ....I have filtered the crap, the sites I have on my links list are good, I have compiled a great source of quality sites.I also add sites regularly.......Remember to scroll to the bottom of my page to do my survey before you leave.....thanks Lee...Picture above was taken at the Seymour Narrows north of Campbell river (Ripple Rock Trail).
